Coldstore expands with w3logistics
Coldstore Hamm GmbH has extended its storage capacity for frozen goods at the location in Hamm by more than a third, with a new annex to the existing buildings being added.
As well as higher capacity, widening the range of services was an important reason for the extension.
A new sorting facility now provides automatic sorting and packaging of meat products into predefined quantities of weight. After having been filled in this way, cartons are labelled, deep-frozen and palletized, before they are stored in the warehouse.
The expansion was accompanied by an enhancement to the well-proven warehouse management system w3/max by w3logistics from Dortmund. Within the new sorting system, the WMS now controls the whole packaging process, so that a full traceability of the goods can be ensured and an additional weighing process has become obsolete.
Holger Schäfer, managing director at Coldstore Hamm, is satisfied: "With the support of w3/max, we can now save a lot of time and money through the automatic packaging process, especially because of the now unnecessary additional weight-check. And the co-operation with w3logistics was as excellent as always."
