w3logistics controls container transports
With 90 articulated lorries BTB Container-Trucking GmbH connects the Western European harbours nationally and internationally to destinations all over Europe.
Tracking & tracing is supported by a mobile solution jointly developed by Tele-Trac and w3logistics. The solution is specially tailored to the requirements of container forwarders: So it is possible, e.g., to transfer documents directly from the dispatching software to the vehicle and to print them there – an important demand by ocean carriers is fulfilled this way.
Both partners contributed their special knowledge to the telematics solution: The Tele-Trac Kommunikations GmbH is the successful supplier of the planning and control solution Optibox. From many reference projects, the Bremen company therefore knows processes and requirements of the container logistics industry. The w3logistics AG from Dortmund delivered the implementation based on mobile communication with a central Internet server. In doing so, they used their know-how from many warehouse management and telematics projects.
Potential users were involved in the development also: Usability, security and reliability were checked in comprehensive tests. At the same time, ties with potential clients were established – with success, because now BTB was acquired as the first customer. The solution introduced there offers high ease of use and a full integration into dispatching and billing, moreover, the solution is completely maintainable on-line.
Helga Bürger, managing director of the Bremen family-owned enterprise BTB Container-Trucking GmbH, looks upon the project start favourably: "Already after only two weeks, our drivers wouldn't want to do without the solution by w3logistics and Tele-Trac any more!"
