Tracking in production supply with w3/max

As an internationally active manufacturer of filling and packaging systems for the beverage, food and non-food industries, the KHS Group occupies a leading position in the segment. KHS develops and manufactures the entire portfolio of filling and packaging machines at five German locations. The focus in Hamburg is on the Group's PET competence: stretch blow molding and barrier technology as well as PET bottle development are located here.

Since 2008, KHS Corpoplast in Hamburg has relied on the skills of w3logistics, the logistics expert from Dortmund. This year, the warehouse management system w3/max has been extended in a project to implement tracking in the logistics process. As the time schedule often requires an intermediate buffering of the material, it is often not delivered directly to the place of destination. With this software extension it is now possible to track the material, the order or the delivery within the logistics area and to control relocation transports, thus avoiding time-consuming manual searches. In addition to cost and work time savings at KHS Corpoplast, the expansion in w3/max ensures smooth production supply.

The current situation with regard to the corona virus posed a particular challenge for the entire project. For example, the warehouse employees at KHS Corpoplast were not trained in the meeting room as usual, but in the form of an online video seminar from Dortmund, which was projected onto the warehouse walls via a projector.

Kay Teske, head of materials management at KHS Corpoplast GmbH is delighted: "We are very pleased that the project worked smoothly even in unusual times, without personal contact and with special working methods. The cooperation with w3logistics was excellent as always".
