Furniture at Strauss Logistics Center thanks to w3logistics

By means of a complete reorganization of their logistic activities, Strauss Logistik GmbH was able to make use of an enormous savings potential in their logistics centre in Solingen and thus to strengthen their competitive position.

Besides the existing fields of operation, a full integration of procedures for handling furniture was necessary, and this meant to take into account a lot of special requirements. Especially challenging were e. g. the in-time implementation of a two-man-handling procedure for partnering logistic providers, or the provision of full warehouse management system support for non-rack-storable, especially bulky goods.

Despite a tight time schedule, the w3logistics AG was able to implement all requirements in the accustomed speed and quality, by a reorganization of storage areas, configuration of additional block storage space, new picking strategies and other enhancements to the warehouse management software.

Axel Hammesfahr, leader of the process management department of Strauss Logistik, says: "Together with w3logistics we were once again able to continuously keep the processes of our WMS up-to-date by constant optimization and thus to fulfil all requirements of our purchasing."

And along the way, also the so called "non articles" were integrated. These articles unknown to the ERP system, such as decoration material, packaging, brochures, etc. can now completely be handled by internal WMS orders without interfering with external systems.
