Stahlwille replaces software mix

The IT of the Stahlwille Group is one of the key aspects for the planned growth of the company. In the future, the mid-market enterprise will use the ERP suite IFS Applications to integrate or replace currently implemented individual software solutions. Despite this, the warehouse management system of the Dortmund w3logistics AG will be retained.

Thomas Heck, IT department leader of the tool manufacturer from Wuppertal, explains the reasons: "Our WMS offers sophisticated functions that we neither can nor want to re-implement in our ERP system. Moreover, with w3logistics we have a partner that will support us in the planned integration with IFS as reliably as always."

The consolidation of the IT infrastructure is only one of the alterations that managing director Jörg Czempisz wants to employ to increase efficiency and customer orientation: "Especially the areas of production and intra-enterprise logistics offer enormous potential."

Frank Wirth, head of logistics, is glad to have the opportunity of implementing new ideas: "Stock reduction by tight interaction of production and stock keeping, centralisation of the warehouses of our distribution companies – many changes lie ahead of us!"

One of the first steps is an optimization of task distribution between the ERP software by IFS and the well-proven existing logistics software: In co-operation with w3logistics, ABC analysis, statistics, and processes for stock level optimization have already been moved into the warehouse management system.
