News from w3logistics

Cross-border deep-freeze logistics

In the new warehouse in Bad Bentheim, Nijko Schnellfrost-Center GmbH stores frozen meat products for their customer Cargill Meats Europe. As a logistics service provider, Nijko supports Cargill's production facilities at Denekamp, The Netherlands. Meat deliveries from all over the world, as well as finished goods produced in Denekamp are received, stored and picked in this warehouse.

The complete software and all IT services were delivered by w3logistics – so that Nijko's logistics centre is now the fourth logistics facility that handles refrigerated food with the warehouse management system w3/max of the Dortmund software company.

The system successfully went live just two months after it was ordered. This short preparation time was a special challenge even for w3logistics, but of course it was possible to benefit from experience with projects that had already been carried out for the deep-freeze industry.

All IT requirements were implemented within the tight time schedule: Operations are carried out by use of wireless radio data terminals in this paperless warehouse, weight data is imported on-line. The communication with Cargill uses an interface which directly connects to their central SAP system. Customer billing is done automatically: All services carried out are documented within the system.

After the start of operations, Horst Koller, manager of Nijko GmbH, looks forward into the future: "With the solution by w3logistics we offer high quality for our customer and moreover we are able to provide current and detailed information. This is an absolute competitive advantage for our customer and for us as a service provider."
