Latest web technology for distribution warehouse
With its latest web client, w3logistics AG supports the logistics and distribution of MC-Bauchemie Müller GmbH & Co. KG. The company located in Bottrop is one of the leading international producers of building chemical products and technologies and is engaged in over 40 countries with more than 2,500 employees.
In the last year, MC-Bauchemie has considerably increased its distribution and picking areas in Bottrop to raise shipment capacities. By means of this increase and with the support of w3/max, loading times could be reduced notably and loading capacities could be optimized.
Picked pallets are managed with exact positions by a web client to avoid annoying search times. Employees are now guided through the warehouse on optimized routes by MDEs, thus achieving a considerable performance increase.
A real technical innovation is the new 3D visualization that was specially developed for this customer. It provides the workers with a direct overview on the current storage utilization, so that the warehouse capacities can be used optimally and managed in a transparent way.
An integral part of the project was the implementation of a shipment GUI, which also represents a mile-stone in the further development of w3/max. The display is shown on screens at every warehouse bay, provides the workers with information about the goods to be loaded, and is directly updated in real-time. At any time, the loading progress is visible at a glance. Pallets no longer have to be searched for, possibly occurring problems can be identified immediately, and loading times are shortened considerably.
"The performance increase at our distribution warehouse does not only save us time and money, but also supports us in aligning our logistics for the future. With web technologies tailored to our needs, w3logistics AG makes an important contribution to this task." says Christoph Stappert, warehouse manager at der MC-Bauchemie Müller GmbH & Co. KG about the project.
The target of a performance increase was met this way, and first steps towards industry 4.0 were taken together with the w3logistics AG. Additional joint projects are already in the planning phase.
