w3logistics maintains Oracle for KHS
Maintenance for all company critical Oracle databases of KHS GmbH – this is the task that w3logistics has been conducting successfully for more than a year on behalf of the leading supplier of beverage applications and of complete facilities for the beverage, food and non-food industries.
Actually this is a slightly unusual task for w3logistics, as the software company from Dortmund usually specializes in the realization of software solutions for the logistics sector. On the other hand, this is exactly the reason why KHS has so much confidence in w3logistics: they were already able to prove their know how in two KHS warehouses – where also Oracle related questions were dealt with.
In the course of time, this co-operation grew step-by-step: At first, w3logistics excelled with the installation of an Oracle RAC (Real Application Cluster) for the operation of its own warehouse management software. Later, this was followed by providing holiday coverage for the Oracle specialists at KHS. Today, w3logistics delivers support in the installation of patches and ensures that e. g. up to 230 engineers can access data on the central, clustered Oracle database with their CAD software – and this is only one of many Oracle based applications at KHS.
Wilhelm Jeibmann, database administrator at KHS GmbH and initiator of the co-operation in the field of Oracle, clearly sees the advantages for his enterprise: "Day-to-day business and first level support is handled by KHS staff – and for release updates or questions regarding database tuning we take advantage of the support of the certified experts from w3logistics."
