Cooperation with school for the hearing-impaired
A contact between Dortmund's IT company w3logistics and the Rhenish Westphalian vocational school Essen, department of special educational needs in hearing and communication, has existed for several years. Both partners have now decided to intensify their cooperation in the year 2009.
The objective is to show the highly motivated graduates of Essen's vocational school opportunities to work in the IT industry or even to find them such a job.
For this purpose, specialists of w3logistics, the logistics experts from Dortmund, will, in accordance to the curriculum, give lectures to provide practical insight. This series of lectures was already started successfully in 2008.
Moreover, starting from 2009, students who are particularly interested will be offered the opportunity of doing a work experience at w3logistics. For the future, there are plans to involve customers of the Dortmund company in this project, as well as to offer work/study programmes.
Jörg Schneider, responsible for the cooperation at w3logistics, sees clear advantages for his company: "The vocational school provides an excellent education, the students are highly motivated and technophile – exactly the kind of employees we are looking for."
Mariola aus der Mark, teacher at the vocational school and project leader, sees it the same way: "We educate our students for highly qualified jobs. Cooperations like the one with w3logistics offer a suitable start of a professional career or academic studies."
