News from w3logistics

Updates made by w3logistics

At the end of February 2013, MC-Bauchemie Müller GmbH & Co. KG with its headquarters in Bottrop has conducted substantial updates of their warehouse management system and the associated database server. w3logistics AG supported them significantly in these tasks. The software company from Dortmund could prove its wide range of skills and demonstrate that it is a strong partner at the side of its customers.

MC-Bauchemie is one of the leading international manufacturers of building and construction chemical products and technologies and has stood for more than 50 years for individual solutions for improvement of concrete and protection and maintenance of buildings. Because of the variety of their product portfolio and their worldwide activities, the company from Bottrop has very special demands regarding IT and logistics.

During the updates that have now been done, the operating system of the server for the warehouse management system was upgraded to a new version, from now on it runs Windows 2008. At the same time, the associated database server was updated from Oracle 9 to Oracle 11. The changes where tested in advance in a specially built virtual environment by w3logistics, so that as many as possible of the side effects created by the updates could be recognized and removed beforehand.

These preparations paid off: The updates were successfully performed on a single weekend. Any interference with production and logistics was avoided completely.

Nevertheless, the works that have been conducted now are only a first step: They build the basis for the reorganization of the stacker cranes that has already been ordered by MC-Bauchemie. In the future, the warehouse management system will directly control the stacker cranes and this will replace the manual steering used up to now.

"The updates on a single weekend worked very well because of w3logistics' flexibility. Thank you very much to the employees of w3logistics!", says Peter Ziegler, project leader IT services of MC-Bauchemie.
