External students' examination with w3logistics

Niklas presenting his work

Although it was not a regular vocational training, Niklas successfully passed his final examination at the South Westphalian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hagen on 20 June 2017 as the very first IT specialist of w3logistics AG.

Niklas studied computer science at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and has been working as a student assistant at w3logistics since 2012. After initial successes, however, the study soon turned out to be problematic: there was the acute danger of failing computer science studies due to the so-called "third attempt" in a specific course of study, because anyone who finally fails examinations may never again enroll in the same subject at a German university.

However, Niklas wanted to keep this option open. The solution was finally found in the external examination: with this examination at the responsible Chamber of Industry and Commerce, professional qualifications can be obtained under certain conditions.

After consultation with the relevant Chamber of Industry and Commerce in 2016, it became clear that the degree course and the activities carried out in addition to the degree course of study prove the professional capacity to act in terms of type and scope and justify admission to the final examination for the occupation of IT specialist, specialising in application development.

Registration followed quickly and, with intensive support from w3logistics, the extensive exam preparation.

A suitable project work was also quickly found in coordination with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce: in a customer project, a converter was urgently needed for the connection to a new archive system.

And finally, the examination came, which was passed in June with the presentation and the expert discussion.

Congratulations on your successful vocational qualification!

P.S. Of course, Niklas will be taken over as IT specialist at w3logistics on 1 July, after all, we would be very reluctant to lose the know-how we have built up over many years.
